Weeks Of Weightloss Challenge

Little Things Mean A Lot

Losing weight can be a long process. Losing 25, 50, 100 or even more pounds might seem like a long drawn out process, and it is. So it's important to recognize the little successes you have each day. Recognizing all the successes you have can give you vital motivation that may help you reach your goal weight.

Doing such things as making it through one meal without overeating, testing your blood sugar the right number of times during the day, or doing some chair exercises (if you can't stand or walk too well) are terrific accomplishments to acknowledge. Don't chalk it up to "just another day". Doing good things for your weight loss and diabetes management goals is a CHOICE you make each day, each hour and each minute. So doing positive things is always a reason to celebrate and feel good about things.

If you find yourself in a situation where your diabetes isn't being managed too well, and you're discouraged about your attempts to lose weight, it's important to let the failure go. Managing diabetes is a daily task, and each day can bring new opportunities to do better. So please recognize EACH positive move you make toward your goals. If you choose an apple instead of a piece of apple pie, that's something to feel good about. If you do 5 minutes of exercise (even if you were supposed to do 30 minutes) that's something to feel good about.

Remember, little things mean a lot and can add up to great goal setting leaps!
